Taught by Pastor Shatona Brown and Deaconess Jewel Duckett, PPCC Sunday School is an opportunity for new and mature Christians alike to learn about various biblical concepts that apply to us all.
Shatona and Jewel are "re-thinking" how the Word of God is taught and present their teachings in a very conversational manner that is relatable, valuable, informational, engaging, and entertaining.

The purpose of this 6-week series and 40-day fast is to be free from toxic thinking, re-train our minds to be transformed and renewed by the power of the Holy Ghost! We will learn how to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
Fasting is a way of saying, “Flesh, I deny you.”
Our appetite for food is representative of the other appetites of our flesh. Fasting is one way that we can override our appetite for food and force this appetite of our natural man to live in subjection to the authority of the Spirit. When we do this, it translates to other appetites of the natural man.
Because of this, when we fast, our ears will become so much more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. We be able to hear Him more clearly.
The enemy always attacks us when we’re fasting and praying. Fasting draws the enemy out—because he knows fasting is effective against him. Jesus’ fast demonstrates this (Matthew 4:1-2).
"The enemy will send opposition intended to discourage you and get you to stop. He’ll try to get you focused on what you feel."

The Carnal Mind
Carnality means to have the nature and characteristics of the flesh (or more simply, it means “fleshly”). What, then, is the flesh? Sometimes it refers to the whole material part of man (1 Corinthians 15:39; Hebrews 5:7), and based on this meaning, carnal sometimes relates to material things like money (Romans 15:27) or to the opposite of our weapons of spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:4).
But the word flesh also has a metaphorical sense when it refers to our disposition to sin and to oppose or omit God in our lives. The flesh is characterized by works that include lusts and passions (Galatians 5:19-24; 1 John 2:16); it can enslave (Romans 7:25); and in it is nothing good (Romans 7:18). Based on this meaning of the word flesh, to be carnal means to be characterized by things that belong to the unsaved life (Ephesians 2:3). The Apostle Paul addresses carnal mindedness particularly in Romans chapter eight. "6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Romans 8:6–7 KJV
Reprobate Mind
A reprobate mind is a mind that is given over to sinful passions and ungodly desires. It is another way of describing a person who is set on satisfying the flesh and not on the Spirit of God. It is a person who rejects God and does what is self-serving instead of what God desires. Therefore, someone who is reprobate is under the condemnation of God. Such a person does not attend church, does not care about the things of God, does not read the word, and does not pray. They are judged by God and are under condemnation, so they have no conviction of their sin or desire for God. Romans 1:28 ; (Titus 1:16). Therefore, the reprobate mind is one that is corrupt and worthless. People who are classified as having a reprobate mind have some knowledge of God and perhaps know of His commandments. However, they live impure lives and have very little desire to please God. Those who have reprobate minds live corrupt and selfish lives. Sin is justified and acceptable to them. The reprobates are those whom God has rejected and has left to their own devices.
Can a Christian have a reprobate mind? Someone who has sincerely accepted Jesus Christ by faith will not have this mindset because the old person with a reprobate mind has been recreated into a new creation: “The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Christians are basically “new” people. We live differently and speak differently. Our world is centered on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and how we can serve Him. Also, if we are truly in the faith, we will have the Holy Spirit to help us live a God-honoring life (John 14:26). Those with reprobate minds do not have the Spirit and live only for themselves.

The Mind of Christ
In 1 Corinthians 2:16, Paul quotes Isaiah 40:13 and then makes a statement concerning all believers: “We have the mind of Christ.” Having the mind of Christ means sharing the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ, and it is something that all believers possess.

Having the mind of Christ means we understand God’s plan in the world—to bring glory to Himself, restore creation to its original splendor, and provide salvation for sinners. It means we identify with Christ’s purpose “to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). It means we share Jesus’ perspective of humility and obedience (Philippians 2:5-8), compassion (Matthew 9:36), and prayerful dependence on God (Luke 5:16).
The Spiritual Mind
Having the mind set on spiritual things: filled with holy desires and purposes (Romans 8:6-11, Romans 8:26-27, Philippians 4:6-9)

After the completion of this series and fast, we expect that the Lord will do great things in and through you! No longer will we be enslaved by negative thoughts in our minds. But we will by the power of the Holy Ghost take each thought captive and make them obedient to Christ our Lord! This will forever be our NEW NORMAL!
